Local
Rehman is a local resident, having lived in the Gillingham and Rainham Constituency for most of his life. He attended Rainham Mark Grammar School, and has been a governor at Chatham Grammar School for Girls for the past seven years.
Career
By profession Rehman is a practising barrister, specialising in criminal law, he regularly prosecutes; the issues of Law and Order and community safety are of paramount importance.
Passion
Apart from politics, his other passion is sport. As a keen sportsman himself, he represented Medway and Kent schools in cricket as well as having captained Hempstead youth cricket team.
Commitment
Rehman is committed to the local community; he has pledged to run in the Isle of Wight half marathon later in the year to raise money for St Margaret’s Church maintenance appeal.
Adviser
Alongside his role as a councillor, he is a former Adviser on Diversity to the then Chairman of the Conservative Party, the Rt Hon Francis Maude MP, and was elected Deputy Chair (Political) of the Gillingham & Rainham Conservatives Association in May 2007.
