Site re-design
OVER the past few weeks, I have been thinking about how to give this site a renewed image.
Rather than change the layout completely, I thought that I would change the colours, add a border and change the banner (kudos to Cllr John Ward for the image of him and Cllr Nick Brice).
If you have any suggestions for design improvements, feel free to post them here.

Goodness me! I hadn’t expected this, especially as Nick Brice and I aren’t even in the Gillingham and Rainham constituency…
Still, at least I’m in my usual place — in press photos I try wherever possible to make myself inconspicuous, either at the end or at the back(!)
Nice text colour, by the way. Now all you need to do to really do a great job is to fix the (very few!) broken links, e.g. to Cllr Diane Chambers’ page :->
Aah, that is a link to a category which doesn’t exist anymore.
When I first started profiles of Councillors I used wordpress’ posts feature, meaning that I filed Cllr Mrs Chambers’ profile under the category Diane Chambers and created the sidebar link.
When I changed the profiles to wordpress’ page feature, all category links were lost, meaning that the only post filed under the category Diane Chamebrs was removed.
I am hoping that soon I will post something relevant to Cllr Mrs Chambers, and the link will be fixed!
As for the photograph above, you are the most regular (and currently one of very few) commenter(s) (and now contributor) on this blog, so I set about looking for a suitable photograph to use for the banner and found, by stroke of luck, the above, which made my day.
Although I had to make you appear shorter than you actually are, so that you looked to be leaning on Cllr Chishti, rather than thin air. Sorry.
For information, the original photograph is below (well, cropped and resized to fit the comments box) along with a link to the page it appears on.

Thank you for the explanation. I saw exactly how you had done what you had done to my lovely photo (and I had even wondered if you’d hidden the aeroplane behind the trees in your new banner!) as it’s the kind of thing I get up to with images — but that’s another story altogether…
Meanwhile, I have added a few items to my “activities” page, so you might even find something else of possible use there now — who knows?
I find it difficult to add to that page, as I generally squirm when seeing myself. Not only am I visually unappealing (and always have been), it is also my concern not to come across as egotistical, which in this business is not easy to achieve without becoming bland and even effectively invisible.
Finding the right balance — and in the right way — is probably more of a challenge than anyone who has never faced it will realise…
Meanwhile, I shall mention to Reh this business of leaning on him, when I next see him at the event with former Pakistani Prime Minister Mrs Benazir Bhutto next week
Oh joy, another witness to our embarassing spectacle next weekend!
Only joking, it will be good to see you again, and inside (hopefully in the dry) this time.
I find photo editing quite an enjoyable pastime, though the only examples of my work on this blog will appear solely on the banner.
As for the self-promotion via activities-in-pictures, I have never considered it egotistical to tell people what you are up to whilst you are doing it (thus my blog).
Although I shall be toning down slightly now…
