Gillingham and Rainham Reporter

I HAVE finally got hold of a copy of Gillingham and Rainham Conservative Parliamentary Candidate Rehman Chishti’s eagerly anticipated (well, by me, anyway) first leaflet. Well, I say a copy. In fact my house is currently home to 1500 of the little devils, screaming at the top of their rather colourful paper lungs “deliver me!”.

I must admit, even I, serial critic of all things design (of all parties; I won’t name names, but one ward newsletter from our side looked like it was designed by the same person who designed our gorgeous, but ridiculously over-priced, Party logo), was suitably impressed by the colourful, newspaper-style (and -size) layout of the highly informative literature.

And I don’t care that I am unbelievably biased! I am proud to be delivering such a masterpiece in political literature here in Twydall, just weeks before a planned Ward specific leaflet (or so I am informed…).

In due course, I shall link to the on-line version of the leaflet (i.e. when it goes online), but for now, I am sufficiently annoyed by this 18 month-old piece of junk my father unjustly calls a laptop to give up on it for tonight.

  1. Well, you might be biased; but I have now seen a copy of this and it is a good ‘un. I couldn’t find anything with which to take issue — which isn’t always the case with our party’s literature, though it has never been anything of consequence when I have had to quibble on those rare occasions.

Twydall ward isn’t normally considered fertile ground for the Conservatives, but we have noticed changes in attitudes here and there. Even in Labour heartland wards the tide is slowly turning.

There is now little doubt that Reh will take the Gillingham and Rainham parliamentary seat from Labour. All the signs are already there, and he will build on that to generate what could well be another record result — just like in Rainham Central ward just four months ago.

I look forward to that event…
