I was amused to see on the Gillingham Lib Dems’ website contact page the words: “Please do not send confidential information by email.”
Fair enough you may say. However, those words appear just below the words: “include your name, address and telephone number”.
I don’t really need to explain the paradoxicalness of the above phrases – nor the humour in my blog engine’s inability to recognise the word paradoxicalness.
Mind you, a front page and some real content for once would be a nice addition to their website – if they can find someone willing to support them who knows how to work a computer, that is.

Oh dear, oh dear!
Yes, the website is still there, if one knows the full URL of the page one wants (or can successfully search for it in a Search Engine such as Google) but the front page vanished some weeks ago. I took this to indicate that they don’t want the site to be accessible to the public, so marked it as “currently empty” on my links page.
It was created and maintained by former councillor Tony Luckhurst, who didn’t re-stand in Watling this time — I think he has effectively retired now.
It is true that there was never any real content, apart from a single page of anti-Conservative pieces that tended to appear/be updated during the months before a local election. Afterward, it became a simple page of “these are your local LibDem activists and councillors”.
I don’t think their small group now has anyone capable of running a website, which is a bit of a shame. It would be healthier for local democracy if they could get their act together on this, one of these days.
By the way, I — like you — am content to have other parties’ websites linked from my own, if they have representation on Medway Council (which is after all the underlying premise on my site).
However, the Labour whip at the time I created it (Cllr Stephen Hubbard, who is now back) wrote in response to my invitation to be included (and even to send me their own photos and any other details if they wished) that I was not to put any details of Labour or its members on my site.
They can be a strange lot!
