Blasts hit Benazir Bhutto’s motorcade
The BBC is currently reporting that the motorcade carrying Benazir Bhutto has been hit by several bomb blasts.
Initial reports are still sketchy, but several people are believed to be killed, at least one vehicle was damaged and the motorcade is now at a standstill.
Update 21:40
Ms Bhutto was not hurt in the two explosions, however police are saying that at least 20 are dead and 60 injured in what police are saying may have been suicide attacks.
Update 22:25
At least 58 people killed and 100 more injured according to the latest reports. The second blast shattered the windows and broke the door of Ms Bhutto’s truck. According to the BBC, “Witnesses said body parts were strewn across Ms Bhutto’s truck. The death toll is expected to rise. Most of the dead were members of her Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). One cameraman for a local TV station was killed.”
Ms Bhutto was immediately rushed to her Karachi residence, as per a carefully planned contingency plan.

This is really bad news, and just shows the lengths to which some people will go, especially nowadays, to harm others. At least Ms Bhutto herself — whom we both met only recently — survived, which is the only good news to come out of this incident; but 60 dead!
It really is a severe statement of the current condition of parts of human society that there are those who will harm others, at whatever level and for whatever reason. The devil is having his way far too much in the world nowadays, and it has to stop!
