Fancy buying the Municipal Buildings?

An advert was placed in today’s Saturday Observer for anyone interested in buying “Former council offices … In established residential area adjoining Parkland”.

In other words, fancy buying the famous Municipal Buildings next to Gillingham Park, then converting it to flats in a “desirable” area?

As much as I agree that the sale of the buildings is imperative, it would be a massive shame to lose the facade and atmosphere to housing – and I don’t believe that Harrisons should be encouraging that particular use.

Where are they moving to if the Municipal Buildings go? The Civic Centre?

Rob, as I blogged earlier in the year, the Council is moving from the Municipal Buildings and the Civic Centre to a single building: the old Lloyds building at Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham.

The move should increase efficiency and reduce costs, and be completed by April 2008.

Ah okay. I hadn’t read that, I do apologise. Makes sense I guess.
