The encroachment into a freedomless dictatorship
I have narrowly avoided a severe breakdown today, induced by excessive idiocies chronicled in today’s Daily Telegraph.
The government is trying to ban children from playing computer consoles such as the XBox 360 or Nintendo Wii, by using devices to restrict their usage. The Healthy Weight, Healthy Lives document (PDF 1925Kb), is also recommending giving headteachers powers to confiscate unhealthy food items from pupils’ lunchboxes.
The government plans to force teenagers to take up ID Cards from 2010. If students don’t possess one, they will be unable to open a bank account or qualify for student funding, leading to accusations that Ministers are planning to blackmail youngsters into getting the cards. A digital remark of the Three Little Pigs has been banned, in case it offends builders and Muslims – after Baa Baa Black Rainbow Sheep, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Humpty Dumpty faced partial or, in the case of the latter, complete censorship.
Finally, Thames Valley Police refused to send an officer to the Rev Simon Lane and investigate a burglary at his Church until he gave he operator his ethnic origin. He labelled the procedures “bureaucratic nonsense”, after he was asked a series of compulsory questions designed to ensure the police are complying with the Race Relations Act.
We may as well be living in a dictatorship: the government is excessively flexing its muscles and trying to remove as many freedoms as it possibly can in order to further control our lives. What’s next? A curfew for all citizens? How about the army marching down every street? Where will they draw the line?

Ah, the “Nanny State” in yet more of its apparently limitless manifestations…
We already are effectively in a communist-style (partially-developed) dictatorship, and all the pieces have been moving into place, largely behind the scenes, for years.
The disclosures about Red Ken’s own activities in this regard should now be ringing alarm bells in the mind of anyone who can see the Downing Street (a.k.a. the FuhrerBunker) parallels.
We are now aware of secret talks that look like they will allow Union barons (and these are the huge politically-motivated Unions) to dictate Government policy from the near future, in return for funding the Labour Party and getting substantial amounts of taxpayers’ money ploughed back into the Unions.
All this is just the fraction of what has been going on that has so far been uncovered. It’s all out there, published in mainstream newspapers as well as the expected ‘blogs. It’s real. It’s here. Now!
