A day (or two) in the life

On Friday I spent ages working on a video about myself, aimed at giving you a greater understanding of who I actually am, beyond the easily misinterpreted words you read on here.

It didn’t take long for me to decide how to follow it up. Today and tomorrow I shall be publishing “a day in the life” articles: one for me on a school day and one for me on a non-school weekday. Put simply, my aim is to allow you to glimpse inside my life briefly and discover the activities I get up to, what makes me tick etc., so that you can gain a greater understanding of who I am and what I like to do.

As I have already started writing today’s (my day starts at midnight), I may as well give you a preview of what you are likely to expect.

Ordinarily on a Monday morning I’d be asleep by now, but as it is a bank holiday I have allowed myself more time to myself tonight for blogging and research (I have a mate staying round tonight, but he went off to bed about and hour ago).

One of my activities tonight was to search for a particularly powerful hymn sung at Church today (I often do this, but to no success) on iTunes – I have a small amount of money reserved for such circumstances, although most of it has now been spent on pre-ordering Delirious?’s new album Kingdom of Comfort as my (rather weak) consolation for being unable to see them next weekend at the O2.

I don’t wish to push myself too far, however, as I need to be up early tomorrow to go out, and have school work to complete once I return home. So it is off to complete the ritualistic way of turning my laptop off: one last check of my emails, one last check for new blog comments, one last check on MySpace and Facebook for any changes and then to open iTunes again.

You see one of the last things I do before I go to bed is spend time with God through prayer. I find that I can concentrate more with mellow religious music playing quietly in my ears whilst doing so, and have set up an iTunes playlist to meet this precise function. The amount of time spent in prayer varies, but this always happens after my parents have gone to bed as my parents haven’t quite mastered the art of leaving me in peace after ten o’clock.

Once I have finished praying, it is time to put my laptop into hibernate mode. This means my entire session is saved, as well as my time in the morning when it comes to loading everything up again. The only thing left for me to do is lay down and go to sleep.
