Lib Dem candidate for RSH chosen
The Liberal Democrats have chosen their candidate to fight the Rochester South and Horsted Ward by-election.
Vivienne Parker, who stood in the 2007 local election and polled just over one third of the votes John Ward received, said “I am delighted to have been selected to stand for the Liberal Democrats”.
News as to who the Conservatives choose should follow next week. The date of the by-election is yet to be announced.

I have just received an email from Medway Council’s Election Services, following a request for the date of the election. It will be held on Thursday, May 8, and the Notice of Election will be published by close of play today. Still no word on the Labour Candidate, but I would guess that Joyce Esterson will be chosen. I have no idea about the Conservative Candidate yet – only that a decision will be made within the next week on Monday night.

I suspect that Dr Terry Lacey will be chosen for Labour, and he is probably the only potentially serious contender for the seat. The LibDems always come (at best) third in this ward, so aren’t serious contenders in reality.
We shall be selecting next Monday evening.
Thanks for the info, John.
Let’s hope that a suitable candidate is chosen for the Conservatives – we wouldn’t want to lose the seat, after all.
