Trevor Clarke for Rochester South and Horsted

Trevor Clarke

Trevor Clarke, a local Christian Conservative, has been elected to fight the Rochester South and Horsted Ward by-election, to be held on May 8.

Clarke, known for his work with Medway Celebrate, beat two other hopefuls at a meeting tonight attended by sixteen voters (including the three candidates) and four non-voters.

I met Clarke for the first time just under two weeks ago, on the night John Ward resigned, in fact, at a Medway CCF members’ prayer meeting. We were discussing how we hoped John’s successor would be a good Christian influence on the Council – before I found out last Friday that he had put himself forward for the seat.

I do, of course, wish him the very best success in his campaigning, and look forward to seeing him in the Chamber, after beating off the challenge from Vivienne Parker (LD) and Adam Price (the former Labour Councillor, selected last Thursday).

  1. Good choice! I was there and voting too (as is my right) and I was very much impressed by Trevor, as were others present at the selection event.

By comparison, we have standing against him a Labour candidate who was kicked out of Gillingham North only last year, and who has no connection with our ward at all; and a LibDem who has tried to claim to have achieved all sorts of things that in reality I personally handled and secured (and have the evidence on file to back it up!)

    No contest!

I agree that it is a good choice – and I believe Trevor will be a superb addition to the Group!

I, too, believe that this is a non-contest. However, we mustn’t get complacent. There is a lot of hard work to do in campaigning, and I have already sent my offer of assistance back, highlighting the days I can help (if I pass my driving test).
