RSH: Statement as to Persons Nominated published

Medway Council have published the Statement as to Persons Nominated in the Rochester South and Horsted Ward by-election.

Amongst other things, it serves to inform us that, contrary to what I was previously led to believe by my source (who has since corrected themselves), the Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat, BNP and Green Parties are all fielding candidates.

I have to look through the records and see, but I have no recollection of seeing a Green Party candidate in a local election for the Medway Unitary Authority before. Simon Marchant is apparently a complete unknown. Brian Ravenscroft, though, has been a Parliamentary Candidate and also local government candidate for the BNP.

Interestingly, only Viv Parker and Trevor Clarke live in RSH. Even the Labour Party have had the bad judgment to choose a candidate who lives in Gillingham. Although it is, of course, the voters who must decide who they want as their candidate.
