Mark Reckless to fight Murray in Rochester and Strood
Posted by Alan Collins on Monday, July 28th, 2008 at 23:57

Twice-former Conservative candidate in Medway, Mark Reckless, was readopted to fight the successor seat of Rochester and Strood.
Dan Hannan had the news this morning when he posted this tribute to his long-term friend on his telegraph.co.uk blog.
Mark was elected as a councillor for the Rochester West seat on Medway Council in May 2007 and now stands poised to defeat Labour’s Teresa Murray (also a Medway councillor) in the next general election.
I would like to extend my congratulations to Cllr Reckless. He is a fantastic councillor and did well to achieve the second best swing in the Conservatives’ top 100 seats in 2005.

Rochester and Strood Conservatives’ candidate chosen
Posted by Alan Collins on Monday, July 28th, 2008 at 13:43
By now Rochester and Strood Conservatives have chosen their parliamentary candidate, after the big event yesterday where members whittled a shortlist of 10 down to four.
One of the final four candidates has been chosen to fight Labour’s candidate Teresa Murray in a notionally Conservative seat - and he/she will be revealed at a meeting in Wainscott tonight.
Keep your eyes peeled to this site, where I should, by tomorrow, have the name of the final candidate for you.

Please vote Alan Collins
Posted by Alan Collins on Monday, July 21st, 2008 at 23:24

I’ve got to admit it, I never expected to be asking you to vote for me quite so soon! However, that time has come, and the best news is that you don’t even have to leave your computer to do so!
As one of the blogs in the Total Politics Political Blog Directory, this site is eligible to be voted into the 2008-9 Guide to Political Blogging in the UK’s Top 100 UK Political Blogs - but I need your votes to make it happen! All it takes is just a few minutes to email your vote.
The full details of how to vote can be found here, but please ensure that you use the name “Alan Collins”, as that is what the blog is entered under in the Directory and that it is high up on your list (as it will get more points that way) - preferably first!
The deadline is August 15 but please make sure you do it carefully - if your vote is cast incorrectly (full guidelines here) it will not be counted.
If you are wondering why to vote for me, then here are just a few reasons:
- I provide a healthy mix of local and national news, as well as personal commentary.
- I am always here to speak out for things I believe in passionately, even if it (occasionally) goes against the party line.
- I am always here to speak up for residents and champion their causes.
- My blog has received praise from numerous politicians and is visited frequently from local council and Westminster IP addresses.
- My musings are always topical and my arguments are always informed.
Thank you in advance for your support in voting for Alan Collins!
