Updates and guess who’s off again…

When I finished my GCSEs, I had eight weeks between finishing my work experience (which was compulsory and held the week following my last exam) and starting Sixth Form. I only spent four of them at home: two were spent in Florida (with family), one in South Wales (with Cadets) and one in Dorset (with a friend’s family).

This year, I have a slightly longer break due to the fact that my university course doesn’t start until September 29 (Freshers’ Week is the week preceding it). I’m not going anywhere with Cadets this year (for the first summer since 2004) and if I did it would coincide with my next “away from home” time.

Tomorrow I am taking the insanely long trip all the way down to Detling! Yes that tiresome 7.6 mile journey to the Kent County Showground that should take between 30 and 45 minutes. Why? The Detling Summer Conference, of course! It runs from tomorrow until Thursday and I shall be staying on-site most nights (I am coming back Monday night, however). Therefore, posting will be limited (if I post at all). Instead, I shall (hopefully, if I can get everything to work) be keeping a diary whilst there, which you can keep up-to-date with here.

Sunday marks one year of going to Church regularly, so I guess it’s somewhat appropriate to kick-off year two with what I am told will be “the most thought-provoking week of my life”.

In other news, I have finished updating all Councillor profiles currently on this site with the 2008/2009 roles on committees, in cabinet etc. The rest of the profiles will be worked on on my return from Detling.

Finally, I have what some people may perceive to be a shock revelation coming up in the next couple of hours! So stay peeled!
