    Thanks for posting that, it was interesting. He’s a very good speaker but I winced a bit when he used the phrase “backward country” near the beginning. What do you know about the setup behind the scenes – was he given any questions in advance? If not, he seemed very well informed.

    No: no questions notified in advance. It’s apparently a strict condition of these events, as is “no Conservative party members”. They’re all either supporters of/voters for other parties, non-voters or floating voters in the audience and asking questions.

    Contrast this with Labour’s John Hutton who asked for notice of the questions he was due to be asked at a recent sixth form college event?
