Clark apologises for expletive hacker left on website

Gillingham and Rainham MP Paul Clark has today apologised to anyone who may have been offended by an expletive left on his website yesterday by a hacker.
Mr Clark, who has been the Labour MP for Gillingham since 1997, said today:
I hope people appreciated that it was not our doing. We quickly amended the website and made some changes to our security levels to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Apparently it was something which affected our service provider and allowed a number of sites to get hit. It is the first time I have ever had anything happen to my online sites and I shall continue to provide that service.
Following the incident, Alan Collins, a local blogger in Medway, said:
Whether you are running a high-profile website or have a profile on a social networking site such as Facebook or Myspace, there is always a need to protect yourself from hackers, and by using stronger passwords you make it harder for them to be successful.

Well done for now being the expert on the internet, according to the Messenger!
Well this "expert" would just like to remind readers that "Internet" is supposed to start with a capital "I"
But thanks
Yes, Alan: you and I appear to be among the few who know that ? though ‘phone texting has reduced standards of English for many, including abandonment of capitals altogether. This is additional to other aspects or causes of (apparent) illiteracy.
Good point Alan. Was a poor mistake by me! I don’t think I can get away with claiming I was referring to an internet rather than the Internet, so I will concede this fact.
Ah…perhaps I was referring to an internet called “the expert on the internet”, and you have just become this particular internet.
John, what other forming of texting (I assume you mean SMS) is there, other than on a ‘phone? I do agree that texting (and also instant messaging) has lowered the standards of English. The amount of people that cannot use the correct to/too/two and/or their/there/they’re (for example) is shocking.
On another note, why has the “Latest Comments” box been moved? Put it back in its rightful second place!
The ‘Latest Comments’ box was moved when I was experimenting with the new front page.
It is difficult to decide which boxes on the sidebar should be higher than the others, particularly when I added the other two latest posts ones.
I shall re-organise when I am back home and on my laptop.
Rob
I do not know of any other current texting media, though of course anything could appear in future. However I was being explicit for the benefit of any readers here who are not familiar with what “texting” means.
It is something I learned when a councillor: all too often we might speak in jargon and acronyms that were familiar to us, but not to any public, reporters or visitors/guests. I was careful to ensure that I was not unclear in such respects, and I have tried to continue in the same manner since then.
I often check the Latest Comments one first to see where the discussion is, then read the rest, but other people might be different.
