Brown could not resign

James Purnell has become the fifth Labour minister to resign this week, and speculation has been growing as to whether Gordon Brown will resign or call an election.

My answer would be no. Brown is a coward – he is scared of elections because he knows he will lose. He’s not interested in the interests of the country – he’s only interested in himself and his being leader of this once-great country.

It is also unlikely he will quit as leader. His actions appear to be near-splitting the Labour Party, yet Brown doesn’t care. He’s not interested in the interests of his party – he’s only interested in himself and his being leader of his once-popular party.

Brown won’t resign or call an election – he’s going to cling on for as long as possible. We can’t stop him, but Labour MPs can.

It’s your time to show us your integrity and force him to resign – before its too late for your survival!

That’s a very accurate assessment, as those of us who have been watching closely have sussed out over the years.

Yes, he will have to be forced out: his current reshuffle is designed only to save his own political skin. As the public realise, all it is doing is moving around the same MPs — there is no clean-up possible in that. Only a General Election can do that.

  2. Joe Armitage says:

Labour Mps won’t be so bold as to force the Prime Minister to resign, though I’m positive practically every single one of them has this desire – even the Front Bench.

Gordon Brown has the greatest power of all, power of calling an election, that would result in the vast majority of Labour’s Mps ‘seatless’. If the Party is in unanimous rebel and seeks to change leader, Gordon will simply propound his intention of a drive to the Palace, at which point they’ll all back off.
