A coach from a popular Medway firm caught fire in a busy Twydall road.

The Kings Ferry coach, which is believed to have been empty and en route to the depot in Eastcourt Lane, stopped on Beechings Way after the fire broke out at the rear of the coach.

Police blocked access from Ito Way and cars were turned away at Eastcourt Lane as fire fighters extinguished the fire which apparently smashed the windows of the coach.

Smoke could be seen pouring into the mid-evening sky from several roads away.

Initial reports suggested an apparent crash, as reported by AlanWCollins‘ twitter news, as two buser were within the cordon. However, this now appears not to be the case.

Och! At least no-one was hurt. I am a great fan of King’s Ferry, and shall remain so even if some wag decides to rename them “King’s Fiery”…
