Sexism or light humour? Who cares – it wouldn’t be Christmas without controversy!
The M&S Christmas advert has been the subject of 8 complaints to the Advertising Standards Agency over it’s “sexist” scenes.
Philip Glenister, of Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes, says that it wouldn’t be Christmas without “that girl prancing around in her underwear” – in reference to his chauvinist character Gene Hunt.
Personally, I think that it wouldn’t be Christmas without a bit of controversy in the air, and it makes a change to see that it’s not about people trying to remove the word “Christmas” (and all its related icons) from Christmas!
