Today can only mean one thing…
It’s Wednesday. It’s the twenty-fifth of November. That can mean only one thing:
It’s time to begin AlanWCollins’ Countdown To Christmas 2009!
Kick-starting the festive spirit on AlanWCollins is an iconic, magical song, yet one which has a tragic history.
Everyone knows this song – and if you claim you don’t you’d be lying. It was recorded for an advertising campaign that has become iconic across Europe.
Sadly, however, the artist died in a plane crash just days before the Christmas season (November 24th) 2001, and never saw how much her song would capture people’s hearts.
The company who used her voice to advertise their products went ahead with the advert, and now, eight years later, it even has its own Facebook page.
Apparently, almost 400,000 people (yes, including myself) agree;?It’s not Christmas until the Coca Cola lorry is on the telly.
So watch out. Look around. Feel the love for Melanie Thornton’s Wonderful Dream.

I recall there was a song, but it wasn’t memorable enough for me to recognise it this time around. It just seems so manufactured rather than genuine ? but I come from a background very close to (and to an extent involved in) the music industry, so perhaps see these things less freshly than those from outside might do.
Like the Coca-Cola truck, I’ve probably been around too many blocks in my time?
