Chatham Labour candidates for 2011 announced

Re-selected: Cllr Vince MapleLabour’s candidates for the 2011 local elections have been announced – via one of the candidates’ twitter feed.

Amongst the selections for the two wards are the three sitting councillors in Chatham Central and Medway blogger Tristan Osborne for what was once Labour’s safest seat, Luton and Wayfield.

Chatham Central councillors Vince Maple (pictured), Julie Shaw and group leader Paul Godwin were all re-selected to stand in their ward in May 2011, whilst joining Osborne in Luton and Wayfield will be Christine Godwin and, perhaps controversially, Sam Whittington, who lost the seat for Labour in last September’s dramatic by-election.

Whilst Chatham Central is likely to remain red, with two independent councillors and one conservative councillor, Luton and Wayfield is likely to become a key battleground seat in 2011.

Results pages will be updated with candidates in due course.

i would be interested to hear what you make on the parliamentary candidate for the English Democrat in gillingham, we all tend to forget the smaller parties. Im slightly concerned at the moment with our PPC in Gillingham (rahman) but even more concerned at the shear weight of talk about the English Democrats.

The manifesto is actually sound and i must be honest there is a sign /indicator they may just do very well, especially as the EDS PPC is a former soldier and local goverment worker.

I had been hopeful that Dean Lacey might prove to be a useful contender for the G&R seat, but unfortunately he is almost blindly siding with a local Labour blogger (who is also a candidate for the local elections here in Medway) and looking somewhat silly.

If you were to look at my ‘blog you’ll see some evidence of a couple of really poor actions by Mr Lacey (one was perhaps committed by one of his colleagues, but he should have checked anything being prepared to go out in his name), and I am disappointed that he is letting the cause of minor parties down almost as much as the others have all done.

Robbing, george? I’m not aware of any “robbing” on my part or by my “bunch”!

Anyway, election results show who is more or less appealing, and the local and general election results here are very conclusive. You are definitely in the minority, and seem to be under some misapprehension which probably helps to explain that…
