Just for information: I am aware that a number of sitting and former MPs also held council seats during their time in the Commons. It can be done, though for those with a career I suspect that it would like trying to burn the candle at three ends ? not easy: have you tried to buy three-ended candles? :-)

I suspect that, as nearly all council wards in Medway have more than one councillor, to save all that trouble and expense the successful General Election candidates will stay on as councillors for the time being.

I suspect that, once they've discovered what it is really like being an MP, they'll realise that it it isn't really feasible to stay on at the council while an MP unless they are prepared to give up their careers completely, if they wish to do a proper job as elected representative in two places.
