Background
Alan Collins was born in Chatham in 1990 and has lived in Gillingham and Rainham all his life. He attended two local Primary Schools, Meredale Infants and St Margaret’s Junior Schools, and achieved 9 GCSEs grade A*-C and 5 A-levels at Rainham Mark Grammar School in Twydall.
Currently, he lives in Twydall and is a Law undergraduate at the University of Kent at Medway.
Outside of politics, Alan was a Cadet Warrant Officer at the Gillingham Air Training Corps squadron, a military youth organisation he was been a part of from 2003 until 2009, when he left to focus on his university studies. He has also had a part-time job working at the Co-operative Food store in Twydall and as a casual paralegal for a Medway law firm.
He is particularly interested in ensuring that young people have their say in the democratic process. He believes that the youth of today are the political leaders of tomorrow, and that, because decisions made now will affect their future lives, they must be consulted upon them.
